Rico Andrews is the owner of Always Best Care Memphis/East. Following is his response to recent news stories on a reported senior abuse case.
“As the owner of Always Best Care Senior Services of Memphis/East, I wanted to be sure people had a correct and full understanding of what has occurred to date.
First and foremost, our hearts go out to the victim and we are wishing them a full and speedy recovery.
The person accused, arrested and charged in this case – Katherine Parrish – is a family caregiver of the victim and is in no way employed by or associated with Always Best Care. She was not providing care nor has ever provided care to the victim on behalf of Always Best Care.
It was our agency that discovered the incident and we reported it immediately – calling 911, alerting police, the state and adult protective services.
From the very beginning we have been fully cooperating with the police and all involved authorities. Both I and our professional caregiver – Tiffany Dean – have been interviewed extensively by all the investigating authorities and we will continue to fully cooperate going forward.
Nothing is more important to us than providing quality care to seniors and their families. We implement extensive screening and training for our professional caregivers who are all bonded and insured.
Again, I would like to reiterate that the alleged abuser was not nor has ever been employed by Always Best Care.”
